You can’t stop the waves, but you can ride the tide: Namib Diesel delivers again with zero downtime.

Project Scope

Namib Diesel was recently commissioned to perform top-end repairs on the MV Letitia, a vessel powered by twin Caterpillar C32 main engines.

Upon removing the cylinder heads, our team discovered that the starboard main engine required a complete overhaul. However, due to strict time constraints, the vessel could not remain in Walvis Bay for the duration of the repairs.

To ensure the client’s schedule was met, a strategic decision was made to sail the vessel to West Africa operating on the port main engine only. Our technicians carried out the full overhaul of the starboard engine while in transit. The work was completed in record time, and the vessel has since returned to full operational status and is back on contract in West Africa.

Client Feedback

“I would like to personally express my appreciation to you and your team for the work carried out on board the vessel Laetitia V.

The technicians demonstrated themselves to be competent and reliable professionals. All tasks were completed with a high level of quality, care, and a clear understanding of the specifics of marine equipment. Their professional approach, technical knowledge, and attention to detail deserve special recognition.

I would also like to highlight the good organisation of the entire team, the clear coordination between specialists, and the constructive cooperation with the vessel’s crew. The work was carried out in a well-structured and cooperative manner, creating a positive and efficient working environment on board.

It was a pleasure to work with such a team, and I can confidently recommend them for future marine projects.”
